Beccles went in to the game with a much changed side with a few players unavailable. They were particularly short in the front row with Deroubaix a late call up at Hooker.
Despite this they started the game well and had Norwich camped in their own half. They were still well on top in the scrum, driving Norwich back. Taylor took advantage of this and when the ball was fed from the back of a scrum he cut back and went under the post for the opening score. Gedney added the conversion.
Beccles continued to put on the pressure and Captain Baldry crashed over for another try with Gedney again adding the conversion.
Norwich hit back with a try of their own before it was the turn of Beccles again with Loader powering his way over out wide for the fianl score of the half. The half time score was 5-19.
Beccles lost Deroubaix and Pitts from the front row at half time which meant that the second rowers Baldry and Johnstone had to step up to take their place. In the reshuffled pack Jolly and Petch came on to the pitch and both had some good moments in the second half.
With the scrum changes Beccles lost their dominance in that area and Norwich fought their way back in to the game. They added a couple of tries.
However, Beccles pulled away again with a try from the elusive running Walker and a Gedney conversion. Norwich lost a couple of players to the sin bin and Beccles were able to see the game out comfortably. They rounded the game off with one more try when Loader fed Gedney out wide to go over in the corner. This gave a final score of 31 - 15.
Man of the match was Knights for being the corner stone of the ever changing front row.
That was the last league game of the season. Despite being disappointed with their finishing position in the first league section of the season they have fought back well to win the second section of the league comfortably. They now have friendlies against Thetford and March Bears before the Pony Moore Cup clash against Southwold on the 30th April.
