Beccles started the game well and quickly scored two unconverted tries. The first was from Suchy who scored in the corner after some quick hands along the backline put him in space. Armstrong scored soon after in the opposite corner after a scything run through the Clacton defence.
The game then began to get a bit scrappy with Beccles not sticking to the game plan that had saw them start well. Clacton kept Beccles pinned on their own line for long periods and were rewarded when their forwards powered their way over for a converted try. This gave a half time score of 10 – 7.
Beccles got back to their game plan of moving the ball away from the big Clacton pack in the second half and this soon brought its rewards. A quick penalty from Tiueti caught the Clacton defence napping and he fed Bennett to go over under the posts. Wade added the conversion.
Clacton added two tries of their own during the second half, using their big forwards to smash holes in the Beccles defence. Credit should go to B&B Skips man of the match Robert Hall who put in a number of big tackle throughout the game.
Beccles continued with the scoring when Bonner put Hinsley in space to go over for a try. Armstrong then finished a good move in the corner. The last Beccles try came from Wade when he cut a strong line from fullback to crash over. He added the conversion to give a final score of 36-21.
Beccles travel to the other side at the bottom of the table on Saturday when they visit Billericay. They will be looking to make it three victories in a row and continue their climb up the table.
