The match was tight for the first twenty but eventually missed tackle let West Norfolk in for a couple of tries. Beccles hit back with a Shucksmith penalty but West Norfolk added another before half time. Beccles were trailing 19 – 3 at the break.
Beccles were more of an attacking threat in the second half but West Norfolk continued to break through regularly with poor tackling generally the culprit.
There were a couple of tries for Beccles. Captain Holtzer finished off a driving maul for his first score of the season. Then debutant Finlay chased and caught a kick off, bursting through the defence to score. Shucksmith added a conversion.
Beccles battled hard but were outclassed on the day. West Norfolk ran out winners by 52 – 15. They will be looking to pick themselves up when the travel to Cantabrigan on Saturday.
