Beccles carry on their good form to win a top of the table clash.

Hadleigh were unbeaten all season in 15 games and were confident going into this match up. Beccles Captain Gedney was out due to injury and it was up to the team to show real grit and dig deep to secure a victory with Tris Holtzer doing a splendid job as temporary captain.
The game started well for both teams, Beccles grabbing some early territory and Hadleigh showing off some good defensive hits. Despite this, it didn’t take more than five minutes for Temm Kauri to show off some individual brilliance- fending off a couple of players and running through for an early try. It didn’t take long for Beccles to get their second as some good support and opportunistic play led to Stephan Holmes going over for a ‘gimme’ try.
With their heads down, Hadleigh let in two more tries before the half ended; captain Holtzer grabbed one with a great finish and Kauri got his second of the game after a good line break from fellow Kiwi Blair Hannam. Halftime score was 28-0, but the score line didn’t reflect the whole truth of the game and it showed early on in the second half.
Hadleigh came out guns blazing and were able to rob a try shortly after the second half started. The pressure kept being put on Beccles and they were soon down to 14 men due to a yellow card, Hadleigh capitalized on this, managing to break through a resilient Beccles defense after 20+ phases and get their second try. Beccles found themselves briefly down to 13 men because of another yellow card, leading to yet another try being conceded.
However, Beccles managed to regain their shape through solid lineouts and excellent work-rate by hooker Seb Morton and second-row Holmes. Kauri managed to go over for his hattrick and wingers Ryan Barret and Tom Harrison both grabbed one a-piece. Despite a continual threat from the Hadleigh centres’, Beccles did not give up a fourth try- meaning that Hadleigh would not gain a bonus point from this game.
Kauri finished 5/6 conversions. Also picking up MOTM due to his all-round brilliant play. Harrison added a long distance conversion at the end of the game.
Final score was 47-15 to Beccles, meaning that the boys-in-green now sit top of the league and in pole position to get promoted with 16 points, Hadleigh in second place with 14. The next game is for Beccles is on the second of March against Newmarket away
