Beccles started the game well and kept possession well. The Norwich defence was hard to break down and kept Beccles out. Beccles finally went in front with a Kauri penalty. Beccles kept up the pressure and added a try soon after this. A sumptuous kick through by Hannam turned the Norwich defence and Harrison won the race to touch down. Kauri missed the difficult conversion but added another penalty soon after to extend the lead to eleven.
Norwich came back with some possession of their own and forced their way over for a try. However it was Beccles who finished the half the better. After a number of drives by the forwards Kauri took a quick penalty and wriggled through the defence to score. He added the conversion to give a half time score of 18 – 5.
Norwich came back strongly in the second half and Beccles had to weather the storm for long periods. Beccles gave them few chances but they did finally get the breakthrough and score another unconverted try.
With the match drawing to a close Beccles worked their way in to the Norwich half and kept control of the ball through the forwards. After one lengthy spell of possession they created space down the blindside and Kauri again went over for the final score of the game.
Man of the match was Harrison.
Beccles sit eight point clear at the top of the table at the half way point. They will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in to the second half of the season. They travel to Diss 2s on Saturday whilst the 2nd team travel to Broadland 2s.
