Bury started the game well and finally broke down the Beccles defence to score an unconverted try. Beccles hit back straight away. Some good ball retention by the Beccles pack created some space down the blindside and Adams powered his way over to score. Gedney missed the conversion.
Bury edged in front again with another try but Beccles soon drew the game level again. The Rix brothers combining well for the next try. Danny drove the ball close to the, Bury were able to turn the ball over but David was on hand to reach a hand through the ruck and touch down.
Beccles were well in the game with five minutes to go to half time but the strong Bury backs combined for a couple of quick tries to take control of the game. This gave a half time score of 24 – 10.
In the second half Beccles continued to play some good rugby on occasions but Bury were dangerous when the game opened up and added four more tries during the half. This gave a final score of 50 – 10.
Beccles travel to Cantabrigans for their final game of the season on Saturday before taking on Southwold at Beef Meadow in the Pony Moore Cup on 28th April.
After a season of struggling to field a team the second team experimented with a Friday night fixture for their last game of the season against Norwich III. They were able field good numbers and won the game by 44 – 5. A successful evening the club will be looking to repeat next season.
