A late call off saw Beccles travel with just seventeen players and a re-organised back line. They also lost Eaton to a concussion in the first few minutes to further disrupt their plans.
A young, fit Medics side took control of the game early with a penalty. They soon followed up with a converted try after there were large holes left in the Beccles defence.
Beccles did manage to tighten up their play after this with Man of the Match Gardiner settling in to his new role at flanker. Beccles managed to put some phases together and keep hold of the ball but couldn’t make the final break through to score.
Medics managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over with a couple of penalties to give a half time score of 16 – 0.
Medics started the second half quickly and soon added two more tries to stretch their lead and put the game beyond Beccles.
The Beccles players continued to fight and rewarded late in the game with a try. A tap penalty from Rix was stopped just short of the line but the ball was recycled well and fed to Holtzer who powered over to score under the posts. Gedney added the conversion.
There was time for Medics to add one more try before the close to seal a victory by 38 – 7.
Beccles now have a week off before they entertain Swaffham in a league and cup double header on the 9th December.
