Beccles started the game well and played some good rugby for the first twenty minutes without really threatening the Wymondham line. Wymondham began to come in to the game and edged ahead over the next ten minutes with three penalties to lead 9-0.
This lead seemed to panic the Beccles players and they began to go away from the rugby they had been playing and started to take unnecessary risks. This opened up the game and Wymondham took their chances. They added three tries before half time to lead 26 – 0 at the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Beccles had some good spells but when Wymondham got on top they scored. They added five more tries during the half. Beccles created their best chance towards the end. A good run by Man of the Match Bonner created the space but when the ball went wide it was fumbled and the chance lost. The final score was 53-0.
Despite the heavy score line Beccles can take some positives from this performance and if they can learn from their mistakes then they can start to move up the league.
First they have a break from league action when they host Broadland in the Norfolk Cup on Saturday.
