Beccles were able to pick one of their strongest teams of the season with players returning from unavailability and injury. Pitts and Holtzer returned to the front row with Howe also providing further front row cover on his debut for the firsts. Walker moved to number eight with Fisher moving to the wing. Bonner returned on the bench for the first time this season.
Beccles started the game well and kept the pressure on the opposition. They took the lead from a lineout move straight from the training ground. Holtzer peeled off the front of the lineout and combined with Arnold before Holtzer himself crossed the line for the try.
Beccles continued to press the opposition and managed to break them down again before half time. Some good work by the forwards down the right sucked in much of the Swaffham defence. When the ball was recycled a good miss pass from Goode put Suchy in the clear to score in the left corner. This gave a half time score of 10 – 0.
Beccles continued to dominate the game in the second half. They scored again when Fisher went over out wide. Next Suchy scored his second try. With two tries and two assists on the day Suchy was named Man of the Match after moving from wing to centre for the game.
With four tries and the bonus point secured Beccles too their foot of the gas temporarily. Swaffham had their best spell of the game and worked a penalty try after a number of infringements from Beccles on their own line.
This put Beccles back on their game and they quickly took control again. A good break down the wing saw Suchy put Puxley in to dive over in the corner. Beccles then completed the scoring when a sublime kick in behind the Swaffham defence from Gedney found the sliding Girling going over in the corner.
This was an important win for Beccles as they look to put together a run of results to move away from the bottom of the table. With players returning to the side they will be looking to pick up some more wins, starting with a trip to Newmarket on Saturday.
The second team continued their development with a trip to Southwold. With Broadland lending Beccles a few players to make up numbers Beccles competed well with Southwold before going down by 69 - 17
