The first 5 minutes set the tone for the rest of the game, big hits were flying in at all angles. But despite having a more skillfull team, Beccles were unable to keep up with the physicality of the opposition and were undone in the 10th minute. A backwards and forth exchange resulted in tries from either side. Beccles relying on being able to manipulate the opposition and creating space; where as Haringey, there attack centered around alot of strong runners and great discipline at the breakdown.
Ex Haringey local Cooper had a hand in all three tries. Suchy scored two of them, first from running a good line and the second after collecting a Cooper chip through. Cooper and Suchy combined again for the last try, Suchy was brought down just short and Club President Sisley was on hand to finish his first try for the club after a little juggle.
Beccles now kick off their league campaign on Saturday. The first team start with a home match against Wymondham II. There is a club open day at Beef Meadow with stalls, BBQ and music either side of the game. The day runs from 1pm to 6pm with the game kicking off at 3pm.
The second team travel to Fakenham II for their first game. After a tough season last year numbers are looking more positive this year and the club will be working hard to regularly field a 2nd team and compete well. Anyone interested in playing senior rugby should come along to a training session (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm) or contact Keith Johnstone (07788 430625).
