After an avalanche of tries conceded in the first 15 minutes. The quick slurry slowed down as the bulls managed to get some possession back. Just before the half ended, Tris Holtzer went over for a score in the corner.
Going into half time with such a deficit, the boys threw caution to the wind and showed some real glimpses of the potential from the whole squad. Jack Baldry carried well making multiple line breaks and giving the rest of the team a platform to play some fluid rugby from. However the Crusaders defence showed resilience and a tenacity to nullify any attacks made by Beccles and quickly counter. Captain and leader Leigh Gedney made some great tackles and demonstrated why he was announced as captain for a second consecutive year.
The final score was 57-5 to Crusaders. Despite the obvious strengh of the the opposition and the promising play, this game showed that if Beccles want to finish better than just bottom half in their league, they need to produce better performances than this.
