Beccles travelled to Broadland in the first round of the Norfolk Junior Cup. Harmer won the contest with the last kick of the game to give Beccles victory by 29 – 26.

It was Broadland who started the game the better and went in to the lead with a converted try. But Beccles soon fought back and took control of the game. Harmer put Beccles on the scoresheet with their first try and added the conversion to bring the scores level.
Beccles then went in to the lead with some good hands putting Harrison in for a score. Two yellow cards followed to disrupt the flow of the Beccles game. Both Wilson and Girling went to the sin bin for high tackles. There was no more score in the first half and the half time score was 7 – 12.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Broadland opened the scoring to level up the scores but then Beccles took control again.
Harmer went over from a quickly taken tap penalty and again added the conversion. Then Beccles scored again after they put together a number of phases which ended with Dyer crashing over for a score.
Harmer added the conversion to put Beccles 14 points clear. However, the game turned again and Broadland came back. They got a try from a well worked lineout move before following it up with a penalty try to tie the game back up again moving in to the last five minutes.
As time was running out Beccles won a penalty. Harmer stepped up to calmly slot the points to win with the last kick of the game. Final score was 26 – 29.
Man of the Match was Eaton. In the next round Beccles will be at home to Swaffham.
