Stuart is no stranger to most at the club as he has held many roles over the years in both a coaching capacity and on the committee. One of these roles was previously being part of the coaching setup that brought the 1XV their promotion to London & EC 2 in 2018/19. Stuart is an experienced RFU Level 2 Coach and has also been involved with coaching Eastern Counties U18’s for the last few seasons. Having led last year’s Colts team through a successful campaign, Stuart was the right man to take on the role now that we will see our young players further transition into senior rugby.

We are also very happy to confirm that Daren Maeer will be continuing as part of the coaching setup this year. Daren led the senior squad as head coach last season, achieving their highest league finish in recent seasons. We would like to take this time to thank Daren for all his efforts last season and can’t wait to see him develop further as a coach at the club this season. Alongside his club duties last season, Daren was also involved with the Norfolk U17’s Coaching team.

Joining the senior coaching setup this year is also former colts coach, Richard Supple. Following strong work with the colts forwards last season, Richard will further assist the squad with his knowledge this year.

Both Daren and Richard will work alongside Stuart and build on the progress made last season and continue to grow the competitive and enjoyable environment within the section.

On these appointments, DOR Keith Johnstone, said “I am happy to appoint this coaching team as all three are committed club members who have been achieving great things over a number of years. After a successful season for the senior section and the completion of our Colts to Senior program, I think this team will enable a smooth transition and take the club on to the next level”.

Pre-season training begins on 9th July and the coaching team are looking forward to getting the ball rolling on an exciting season ahead.
